Chameleon Lights Unveiled

Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust on Sunday sponsored the book reading event of ‘Chameleon Lights’, a collection of 20 poems penned by upcoming author Ayushman Jamwal. The event was hosted by the Quill and Canvas Bookstore and Art Gallery in Gurugram and attracted poetry lovers from all walks of life.

Ayushman read out his favourite compositions from ‘Chameleon Lights’, and shared an anecdote of his inspirations that helped him evolve as a writer and over the years added substance to his writings.

During a lively interactive session with the audience, Mr. Jamwal, who is the grandson of renowned Dogri litterateur and Sahitya Akademi Awardee Late Group Captain Randhir Singh, popularly known as `Kunwar Viyogi’ in literary circles, said that ‘Chameleon Lights’ chronicles his journey from being a young, carefree lad, studying at Doon School in Dehradun, to figuring out his purpose in life, while embarking on the road to self-discovery.

Recalling his grandfather’s contribution to Dogri literature, Mr Jamwal said: ” My grandfather, Kunwar Viyogi was such a revolutionary writer that each time I read one of his compositions I am in awe of the way he visualised everything. If I can be even one percent of what he was, I will feel I have done justice to my craft.”

While interacting with the audience, Mr Jamwal recited one of his favourite poems ‘The Artist Of The Soul’ and narrated an incident that inspired him to pen this composition. Here is the account of Mr Jamwal’s inspiration behind ‘The Artist Of The Soul’:

‘Chameleon Lights’, as Mr. Jamwal perceives, powerfully conveys a multitude of emotions, tracking the journey of a restless spirit as it tries to find its identity. The journey beautifully unfurls with well-lit paths and dark corners, where one encounters myriad hues of destiny, love, music, art, pain, suffering, beauty, spirituality and even a sprinkle of insanity. Mr. Jamwal’s thoughts in the poems are contemporary and their essence universal. One can truly find themselves between the lines.
