All English Sonnets
True humility true confidence bestows,
To face the truth and know your worth besides,
It neither scoffs at itself nor it crows
At one’s imagined talents and bestrides.
This worthy charge happily takes a ride,
To realms of success, it steadily goes,
And truthful, truthful all its limits knows,
And by its limits always thus abide.
It neither shouts triumph nor does hide,
( when it does battle lose ) in hedge grows
Of black regret and always it does bide
Its chance to plough with numberless furrows
The fields of life and makes its losses guide,
And point the way to where the victory grows.
