In an attempt to inculcate love and appreciation for language and literature and instill creative skills in the younger generation, in particular, Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust, as a part of its “Save The Language” campaign is organizing Kunwar Viyogi Recitation Competition in Dogri for students of Cluster University, Jammu.
The aim is to stimulate the faculty of imagination among people and promote a sense of belonging for languages.
Eligibility Criteria
The competition is open to all above the age of 15 years.
Rounds
Preliminary Round: Participants can use any medium of expression (recitation/enactment/singing etc) to convey the theme and lyrics of the Dogri Sonnet from Kunwar Viyogi’s book, Pehliyaan Banga. The copy of the sonnets is available in PDF and WORD format on our website www.kvmtrust.com. Contestants should send their entry via a video to kvmtrustofficial@gmail.com by Jan 27, 2018. The finalists will be shortlisted by jury and communicated via e-mail. 5 participants will reach the final round.
Second Round: Finalists of the prelim round will be eligible for the second round. Participants can use any medium of expression (recitation/enactment/singing etc) to convey the theme and lyrics of the Dogri Sonnet either from Kunwar Viyogi’s book, Pehliyaan Banga or of any other Dogri writer. Venue of the second round will be Women’s College, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The college will be visited on 29 Jan 2018. The Jury of the second round will include :
1) A Member of the Trust
2) An Official from Radio Mirchi
3) A college professor from the respective college.
5 contestants will be selected for the next round.
Final Round: In the final round, judges will allocate a sonnet from Kunwar Viyogi’s book, Pehliyaan Banga to the finalists. Students can use any medium of expression (recitation/enactment/singing etc) to convey the theme and lyrics of the Dogri Sonnet and mail their entry via a video to kvmtrustofficial@gmail.com by Jan 30, 2018.
Announcement of Winners
Winners will be announced on Feb 2, 2018, during a function at Gandhi Nagar Women College. Award-winning videos will be showcased at the award ceremony and also uploaded on Trust website and all social media platforms.
Marking rules:
Contestants will be judged on the following:
1) Voice and articulation
2) Evidence of Understanding
3) Overall Performance
Time:
Each video upload should not be more than 3 minutes. Failure to abide by the mentioned time limit will affect the scores.
Jury:
- 3- member jury comprising of 2 distinguished Dogri writers/poets, HoD Dogri, University of Jammu and 1 Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust member will decide the winner/ winners.
- Judges will collectively determine the winner by majority votes.
- The decision of judges is final
- Individual marks will not be disclosed
Prizes:
The first three winners will receive a Certificate of Excellence and a trophy.
