All English Sonnets
A young and lovely sparrow upward looked,
She is a lovely sparrow, have no doubt.
Her loveliness is within and without,
And to the top best branch her heart was hooked.
To perch and peer on it, she did aspire,
She wished to take to wings and sit on it.
I counseled her to fulfill her desire,
She ought to tackle levels bit by bit.
And ought to know the labor it presages,
Before aspiring for the wanted heights,
And ought to understand the various stages
Of mastering the art of soaring flights.
But the lovely sparrow did not see,
My point and hence we agreed to disagree.
