    When the eye wakes up to see again, it suddenly stops taking anything for granted – Fredrick Frank

    Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust presented Indradhanush – The Art Show.

    The exhibition was the third edition of a series of shows to be continued with an eclectic mix of creative art pieces. The first show titled: Prem Prayas Art Exhibition- 2016 had a convergence of over 30 artists- painters and sculptors from Jammu, while the second show 50 Shades of Being – 2017 had over 50 emerging artists especially students. Through such endeavors, the Trust discovered talents like Jaswinder Singh, Aftab Chauhan, Ajay Saini and Prithvi Singh.
    In Sept 2018, Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust presented a showcase of three well-established artists, representing three genres. The exhibition which ran from Sep 24-30, 2018 featured artworks of Mr Uday Shankar, Times of India’s renowned cartoonist; Ms. Rashmi Jamwal, a celebrated artist and Ms. Jyoti Gupta, renowned ceramic artist.
    Once again, we welcomed the art lovers of Jammu to Indradhanush – The Art Show and welcomed them to delight themselves with various expressions of artwork.

    Artist Profiles

    Mr. Uday Shankar

    A celebrated cartoonist, illustrator and painter based in New Delhi, India, Mr Uday Shankar is a graduate from the Calcutta University. He has done his 5 years diploma in commercial arts from Indian College of Arts, Kolkata and had a long and illustrious innings in the visual arts field. He has dabbled in almost all art forms ranging from cartoons, caricatures, illustrations, portrait drawings, comic strips, book cover design, sculptures as well as paintings. Over the last two decades, his work has been published in almost all leading and national newspapers and periodicals. He had a long tenure with The Times of India Group and has the unique distinction of having drawn more than 5000 portraits of national and international celebrities, most of which have appeared in the pages of The Times of India, the world’s largest circulated broadsheet daily, with which he was associated as a cartoonist and illustrator for many years. He has also conducted more than 100 cartoon / caricature / animation workshops for school, college students and teachers all over India. At present associate with IIMC, Delhi, as a guest lecturer. And occupied with various national and international art projects.

    Ms. Rashmi Jamwal

    A self- taught artist, with practice spanning over a decade in various mediums, hails from the state of Jammu and Kashmir. In 1991, Rashmi graduated from the University of Jammu with a degree in law. Legal profession took a back seat to become a full -fledged homemaker post marriage. During this phase was irrevocably drawn to the world of creativity and colours. Early influences have been the myriad cultural hues, people and places visited. Many of the works have interlaced ancient myths into contemporary art form. Nature and people have been a constant source of inspiration. She believes in river like quality in the act of creation – always seeking, exploring and dropping the known for the unknown, communicating the joy and beauty of visual medium beyond the confines of languages. At the event, she will display works in Oil and Acrylics.

    Ms. Jyoti Gupta

    A ceramic artist, with multiple exhibitions to her credit, Ms. Jyoti Gupta will display a unique expression through her contemporary clay pieces that has often caught the eye of art lovers in India and abroad.
    The show will be a rewarding benchmark in artistic excellence. One enclosure will be dedicated to local artists to contribute their works, while an art appreciation workshop will be conducted, mentored by the artists for deeper understanding and appreciation of art.
