• CHETEN DI LARI

    The annual celebration of “Kunwar Viyogi Utsav 2019” was held at the Computer Science Department Auditorium on 27th September 2019. The event “Cheten Di Lari” of Kunwar Viyogi Utsav 2019, was addressed by Prof Sushma Sharma, HOD Dogri, and Prof Manoj K Dhar, Vice-Chancellor – University of Jammu.

    We have given a tribute to our beloved Joginder Chhatrapal Ji – a Sahitya Akademi Awardee.

    This also includes a musical presentation “Geet Bajogi De” by Brij Mohan, and other singers: Sonali Dogra, Vanshika Jaral, Antriksh Taroch. This was concluded by the Chairman of our Trust – Goverdhan Singh Jamwal.

    “Cheten di lari” is a Seminar which is organized every year as part of Kunwar Viyogi Utsav at the University of Jammu. This event is organised by KVMTrust in association with the Department of Dogri, University of Jammu. During the event, the annual scholarships and Awards are announced and notable work facilitated by the Guests of Honour.

    AWARDS & SCHOLARSHIP

    KVMTrust will give various awards and scholarships to the Students of University of Jammu towards promoting and popularizing Dogri language and Dogra culture amongst the youth. We are giving away these scholarships to make their efforts sustainable and cause worthy.

    ‘Kunwar Viyogi Merit Scholarship’ and ‘Prem Jamwal Kunwar Viyogi Merit Scholarship’ of Rs 10,000/- each along with a trophy will be awarded to a male and a female topper of M.A. Dogri Department, University of Jammu.
    ‘Kunwar Viyogi Research Scholarship’ of a cash prize of Rs 30,000 and a trophy will be awarded to the one who has taken up research work on the Dogri writers/poets etc.

    Also the most awaited awards of the year “Kunwar Viyogi Sahitya Puruskar” and “Kunwar Viyogi Sahitya-Kala Sammaan” will be awarded to “Shri Roshan Lal Bral” for the best Dogri book ‘Sheesha’ by a young writer in the last 3 years and “Late Shri Chhatrapal Ji” for his overall and outstanding contribution towards literature.

    Our panel of judges includes Prof. Veena Gupta, Prof. Lalit Magotra, Prof. Shashi Pathania, Shri Gianeshwar, and Shri Inderjeet Kesar.

    Kunwar Viyogi Sahitya Puraskar

    Kunwar Viyogi Sahitya Puraskar has been instituted by the Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust, in association with Dogri Sanstha, Jammu.

    The Puraskar is awarded every year for the first book or the best book in Dogri by a young Indian author or for translation work in any Indian language recognized by the Dogri Sanstha.

    The Puraskar consists of a cash award of Rs 11,000/- along with a citation on the book’s significance and the author’s contribution to the Dogri language and a memento. The recipient is decided by elite members of the jury formed of members of the Sanstha and the Trust.

    In 2019, the award was given to Kamla Bharti Awardee and Imminent Dogri writer Shri Roshan Lal Bral for the best Dogri book ‘Sheesha‘ by a young writer in the last 3 years.


    • Shri Roshan Lal Bral

      Shri Roshan Lal Bral has received the Kunwar Viyogi Sahitya Puruskar for the best Dogri book ‘Sheesha‘ by a young writer in the last 3 years. Kamla Bharti Awardee and Imminent Dogri writer who was born on 21st August 1981 at Village Rajwal, Tehsil Jourian (Akhnoor) in District Jammu have given his contribution in form of “Sheesha”, a published book having a collection of Dogri poems.
      Mr. Roshan has also received many literary awards such as Duggar Rattan from JK channel Jammu 2018, Swami Brama Nand Tirth Samman 2018, DOGRI Sanstha Samman 2019 and Nami Dogri Sanstha Samman 2019.
      Being a literary person who has a bunch of degrees in Dogri, Political Science, English and Education, he is currently working as a govt. teacher in the Education Department. Apart from being a writer, Mr. Roshan has also translated a book from Hindi to Dogri and also he has been a part of a Dogri Play which is titled as “Baba Mai Mal”.

    • Kunwar Viyogi Sahitya Kala Samman

      The Dogri Sanstha Jammu has instituted a prestigious literary award this year. The Kunwar Viyogi Sahitya Kala Samman, as it is known, is an Indian literary award to be presented annually by the Dogri Sanstha, Jammu to an author for their “outstanding contribution towards Dogri literature”.

      Well known literary experts, teachers, critics, universities, and literary and language associations provide the nominations for the award on a yearly basis. All the nominations are scrutinized by the committee and their recommendations are submitted to the Dogri Sanstha which consists of members of “high repute and integrity”.

      The Kunwar Viyogi Sahitya Kala Samman for 2019 was awarded posthumously to Lt. Chattrapal Ji, a prominent Dogri writer and Sahitya Akademy Awardee.


    • Late Shri Chhatrapal Ji

      Prominent Dogri writer and Sahitya Akademy awardee, Joginder Chhatrapal passed on 28th July 2019 after a brief illness.
      A prolific short story writer in Dogri and Hindi language, Joginder Chhatrapal was Sahitya Akademy awardee and receipt of a number of other prestigious State as well as national level awards in the field of literature. He also remained president of Dogri Sanstha Jammu and has worked a lot for further promotion of Dogri language. Mr. Chhatrapal has also received the Best Playwright Award by JK Academy of Art Culture Language in 2015, an award for Best Hindi Writer of Non-Hindi State by Ministry of HRD, 1982 and Akashwani Drama Award for Humorous play. Apart from being a renowned writer, Mr. Chhatrapal has also translated numerous books from Dogri to Hindi, which have been published by the Sahitya Akademi.

    • Kunwar Viyogi Young Writers Award

      Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust would like to encourage our youth who are giving their contribution in Dogri Literature and Duggar culture by giving them our Young Writer’s Award.
      Our goal is to recognize their efforts and their outstanding writing achievement.


      • Pankhuri Aggarwal

        Pankhuri Aggarwal is currently perusing Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Jammu. She completed her M.Phil in English Literature and topped her Master’s in English Literature. A resident of Jammu, Pankhuri, in her free time loves to read, write, paint, travel, and swim. She started her career as a freelance writer and has umpteen publications in local, national and international journals. To promote her paintings, the talented author recently launched her Facebook page titled: Pankhoj.

        The Kunwar Viyogi young Writers Award is presented to Pankhuri Aggarwal for publication of her book titled: “The Petals of Reminiscence: A Step Back in Time”, a poetic collection with 101 poems. Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust acknowledges Pankhuri’s contribution in promoting the Dogri literature and awards her with the Kunwar Viyogi Young Writers Award.

        Stumble upon the prism of lovers once again by losing yourself in this poetic voyage, which takes you through all the shades of life from encapsulating love, companionship, bliss, triumph to anxiety, distress, heartache, death, loss, rejection and redemption. The words flocked in arousing the senses by embracing about the petite things that make life magical.


        • Sunil Mehra

          Sunil Mehra is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Dogri at Government Degree College, Batote. A resident of Udhampur, Sunil is an M.Phil in Dogri with subsequent degrees in B.Ed, M.A, NET, and JRF.

          The Kunwar Viyogi young Writers Award is presented to Sunil Mehra for publication of her book titled: “SEES”, a collection with short stories. Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust acknowledges Sunil’s contribution in promoting the Dogri literature and awards him with the Kunwar Viyogi Young Writers Award.

          “SEES” is a collection of short stories in Dogri, depicting the burning issues of corruption and unemployment in a society. The book focuses on issues like unemployment and corruption and how they have become a major problem, affecting the life, health, economy, and community as a whole. The entire society is affected by inefficient allocation of resources, shadow economy, and poor education and healthcare system.

          Kunwar Viyogi Shaurya Kala Samman

          Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust launched the Shaurya Kala Samman Award to honour the brave soldiers for the services to the country. Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust was established in memory of Kunwar Viyogi, only Indian Air Force officer to have received the Sahitya Akademi Award for his long Dogri poem titled ‘Ghar’.

          Shaurya Kala Award is a yearly award given to one soldier serving, or retired or posthumous to show gratitude towards the soldier for the service to the country. The award is decided by an eminent jury consisting of Dogri Sanstha and KVMTrust members and presented during the yearly Kunwar Viyogi Utsav held at Jammu.


        • G.D. Bakshi

          Major General Gagan Deep Bakshi is a retired Indian army officer. He is from the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles. He was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal for commanding a battalion in the Kargil War. He was also awarded by the Sena Medal for distinguished service in commanding a battalion during counter-terrorism drives. He subsequently commanded the Romeo Force (Part of elite Rashtriya Rifles) during intensive counter-terrorism operations in the Rajouri-Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir and succeeded in suppressing terrorist activities in the area.

          He has served two tenures at the Directorate General of Military Operations and was the first BGS (IW) at HQ Northern Command (India), where he dealt with Information Warfare and Psychological Operations.
