The 10th Kunwar Viyogi Utsav 2025 opened with Chetan Di Lari, a collaborative initiative of the Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust and the Department of Dogri & English, University of Jammu. The day’s proceedings celebrated Dogra heritage, literature, and cultural legacy, while paying tribute to Kunwar Viyogi’s remarkable contributions.

The program began with the ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by the showcase of a KVM Trust film and a warm welcome address by Prof. Sushma Sharma, HoD Dogri Department. The Founder of KVM Trust, Poonam Singh Jamwal, addressed the gathering, highlighting the Trust’s vision of preserving and promoting Dogri culture.

A special moment of pride was the showcase of the patriotic anthem “Jai Dogra”, dedicated to Brigadier Rajinder Singh and his 100 brave soldiers, followed by an insightful talk from renowned music director Brij Mohan on its making.

Sessions by eminent scholars enriched the event, including:

  • Paper presentations on Kunwar Viyogi’s works by Dogri scholars.

  • Padma Shri Prof. Lalit Mangotra’s lecture on “10 years of collaboration with Dogri Dept, University of Jammu and the way forward.”

  • Padma Shri Mohan Singh Slathia’s talk on “Steps to make the Dogri Dept of Jammu University the Centre of Excellence.”

A key highlight was the unveiling of “Chetan Di Lari – Students Journal” and the blueprint of the Kunwar Viyogi Auditorium, symbolizing a commitment to future generations of Dogri learners and creators.

The event also witnessed the distribution of scholarships by Honourable Vice Chancellor Shri Umesh Rai, in recognition of young talent. Students presented a vibrant cultural program, followed by a heartfelt vote of thanks by Prof. Sushma Sharma and ceremonial gratitude extended by KVM Trust Chairman Goverdhan Singh Jamwal.

The memorial lecture thus served not only as a tribute to Kunwar Viyogi’s literary and cultural legacy, but also as a platform of inspiration for scholars, artists, and students dedicated to carrying forward the rich Dogra heritage.
