The art exhibition apart from showcasing one of the finest arts of Basholi also throws light on the cultural ethos of our vibrant Duggar land – Jammu. The paintings on show have been executed by none other than Mr Sohan Singh Billawaria, a National Award winner and one of the few surviving practitioners of Basohli miniatures along with International visual artist of repute Ms. Rashmi Jamwal.
As the title suggests, this is an exhibition of Basohli paintings which celebrate the navarasas and divinity that have existed in our cultural milieu since centuries. Basohli art is an internationally recognised miniature art form that originated in the quaint town of Basohli, Jammu and became the precursor of all other forms of Pahari miniatures.
Along with his resplendent art, we are also exhibiting poetic expressions, in the form of sonnets in Dogri and English, by Kunwar Viyogi, renowned as the ‘Father of Sonnets’.
