• Multilingual Poetry Symposium

    Multilingual Poetry Symposium, to unite poets of different languages, ages and communities. Featured Piyush Mishra, an actor, poet, singer, lyricist with Ayushman Jamwal, a writer, poet, journalist, and Jitender Singh Jamwal, a ghazal singer on 14th September 2019, Saturday at 3:00 PM at Oxford Bookstore, Connaught Place, New Delhi. This event was a confluence of eminent poets, stage personalities, authors and poetry enthusiasts. The event was a part of Kuch Poetic and Wings of Verse initiative that took place as part of the Kunwar Viyogi Month celebrations, on 14th September at Oxford Book Store in Cannaught Place, Delhi. The highlights of this episode was the participation of Piyush Mishra. The show was hosted by Ayushman Jamwal. Several other poets, writers, intellectuals and poetry enthusiasts took part in the event. The objective of the Symposium was to help in widening the reach and relevance of Poetry in today’s time by giving an Open MIC where the audience also gets a platform to share their compositions.

    • Piyush Mishra

      Piyush Mishra is an Indian film and theatre actor, music director, lyricist, singer, and scriptwriter. He started his career in Hindi theatre in Delhi. He also established himself as a theatre director, actor, lyricist and singer. He moved to Mumbai in 2002, receiving acclaim for his acting in Maqbool (2003) and Gangs of Wasseypur (2012).As a film lyricist and singer, he is noted for his songs “Are Ruk Ja Re Bandeh” in Black Friday (2004), “Aarambh Hai Prachand” in Gulaal (2009), “Ik Bagal” in Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 1 (2012), and “Husna” in MTV Coke Studio.Piyush Mishra started his career as a theatre actor in Delhi, and in 1990, helped start the theatre group Act One. He wrote several plays as a part of Act One Theatre Group, including the acclaimed play, Gagan Damama Bajiyo, based on freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, which was first performed in 1994. Piyush is also known for his performance in Swadesh Deepak’s Court Martial as Suraj Singh, first with Ranjeet Kapoor (1991) and later under the direction of Arvind Gaur (1996).He had established himself as a theatre director and directed Comedy of Terror play for Shriram Centre Repertory Company, and also presented his solo act play at the National School of Drama’s Annual Theatre Festival.


    • Jitender Singh Jamwal

      A known Singer and Musician who sings Dogri Folk Songs, Bhajans and Sufi songs. His singing and music has earned him many accolades.His folk music is representative of the traditional folk heritage of the Jammu. He is also Top Grade Artist at All India Radio (A.I.R) and entrepreneur.


    • Ayushman Jamwal

      Ayushman Jamwal is a curator by choice, poet by heart and a journalist by profession. The multifaceted artist is winning hearts with his recent publication- ‘Silent Sun’- a collection of short poems that explores the human condition in the modern era through different eyes of humanity, instant and elusive search for meaning in the absence of the struggle for survival. Ayushman’s first book – ‘Chameleon Lights’, released in 2016 featured among the top 10 best-selling books of English poetry on Amazon.Presently working as a senior news editor at CNN-News18, New Delhi, Ayushman’s poems have also been composed into songs, performed by Kolkata’s famous minstrel Surjo Bhattacharjee. The young poet is also credited with creating a unique poetry showcase – “Kavita Sang Yaar Beli” that celebrates life and the power of verse. The showcase depicts how universal human aspiration and values transcend language and time. It was a unique effort to bring talented wordsmiths on a common platform and demonstrate the strength of expression.Grandson of renowned Dogri litterateur and Sahitya Akademi Awardee Group Captain Randhir Singh, Ayushman is also the mentor of ‘Save the Language’ campaign, an initiative started by Kunwar Viyogi Memorial Trust to preserve and popularise the Dogri language. Apart from that, he has curated two very successful shows – Cultural Cocktail and Innovation in Art staged in Jammu, Srinagar, Chandigarh, Jaipur, and Delhi.
